About Fran

"My love affair with the kitchen began at the young age of eight. While other kids enjoyed playing outside or with their toys, I was busy studying cookbooks and recipes – I was especially captivated by desserts. Like it was yesterday, I remember buying my very own Pillsbury hardcover cookbook with my birthday money. Through the whole week, I would eagerly await for the weekend to arrive so I could try a new recipe! Being a first-generation Italian, I grew up surrounded by delicious home-cooked food and lots of it. Whether entertaining, or cooking for just our family, there were always leftovers to be found. My family was so passionate about cooking and enjoying fresh and delicious home cooked meals that we rarely ate out in restaurants. The food was just not as good as it was at home. I still carry that mentality with me today and would rather cook and eat in over eating out any day.

I continued to perfect my cooking skills in my adult years as I shared the kitchen with my Nonna Maria. She put her heart and soul into every dish she made. My Nonna’s love of cooking inspired me and ignited my passion for cooking. She taught me all her secrets, and it is with much love that I share those with my daughter today. When I got married and started my own family, I started to look at cooking as another way to share my love of good food and the memories made around good food. To see others enjoy and appreciate what I cook is so satisfying and truly warms my heart." —Fran
